Summer Internship Opportunity

If you know high-school students looking for a fun STEM experience this summer, encourage them to join the Rosie Riveters team! We’re a local nonprofit that provides STEM programming for girls ages 4-14, and we’re looking for interns to help us run our *FREE* summer geocaching activity.

Not familiar with geocaching? It's an outdoor treasure-hunting game that is growing in popularity, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants use GPS-enabled devices to reach specific locations where geocaches (containers) are hidden (see more at Rosie Riveters’ summer geocaches will contain instructions for a fun STEM project to do and, in some cases, one of the materials needed to build that project!

Each summer intern will keep tabs on one of our geocaches in Arlington or Old Town Alexandria, making sure it is consistently filled with materials. With the assistance of our staff, they will also record a video of themselves building the project that our organization will use 1) as a resource for participants who’ve found the geocache and are building the STEM project and 2) to promote the summer geocaching activity across our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).

We're happy to work with teachers, extracurricular advisors, etc. so that participation in the internship may serve as service hours and/or class credit. And for high school juniors and seniors, the experience makes for a great answer to the “what did you do during COVID-19” question. The video interns produce is also an awesome supplement to send in with college applications.

Applications for our Summer Internship are now closed. Please visit our Summer STEM page on July 5th to see our 2021 Interns awesome project videos.
