Temps are rising, school is out, and the beach is calling - summer is here! We’re so excited to launch TWO FREE PROGRAMS to keep kids excited about STEM all summer long:  a geocaching adventure and a summer reading program.

Summer STEM Search

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game, and Rosie Riveters is building on the success of the Women’s History Hunt that we held this spring. We’ve put a unique STEM spin on our summer iterations of the hunt - each geocache contains instructions for a STEM project to do at home; some even include one of the materials needed to complete the project!

For the summer, we’re offering two unique hunts - each with six geocaches - one in northwest Arlington, the other in Old Town Alexandria. We’re inviting everyone to participate from July 5th - August 15th, and children who complete all six projects in one of the respective hunts can choose a free Rosie Riveters STEM kit as a prize!

Summer Reading

We love books at Rosie Riveters, especially ones about STEM! Our brand-new summer reading program features books about STEM, the trailblazing women who’ve shaped the field, and issues related to its pursuit - learning from failure and perseverance, for example.

We’ve curated six-week reading lists for children from preschool through middle school, and participants who complete the program by answering a question about each of the books they read will receive a $5 coupon at Hooray for Books! in Old Town Alexandria!

Can’t wait to participate? The program will run from July 5th-August 15th; sign up below to be notified when the reading lists are released!
